Posted by Staff Writer on

The summer is coming, the Taoiseach said, as he announced a wide reopening of society in the coming months.

Reaction the the news were mixed:

The Restaurants Association of Ireland has said that the reaction from the sector to this evening's announcement from the Taoiseach is "one of disbelief, confusion and frustration".

They have questioned why restaurant customers must dine on the street, whilst hotel guests can eat and drink indoors.

The Vintners Federation of Ireland has said it is "extremely pleased" that the 'substantial meal' provision for cusmters at pubs is now abandoned, saying that "the artificial divide between pubs serving food and traditional venues no longer applies".
There is still a long road to full recovery of the Tourism and Hospitality sector but businesses will be keen to start promoting for the summer season.
